I am also young in Christ
and also want to add a little more from the Bible about prosperity gospel

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For EVERYTHING in the world- the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, the man who does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2;15-17

'Everything' in this regard includes love of money and wanting to become rich.

Have we not power to eat and to drink? {9:5} Have
we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other
apostles, and [as] the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
{9:6} Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear
working? {9:7} Who goeth a warfare any time at his own
charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit
thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk
of the flock? {9:8} Say I these things as a man? or saith not
the law the same also? {9:9} For it is written in the law of
Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that
treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? {9:10}
Or saith he [it] altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no
doubt, [this] is written: that he that ploweth should plow in
hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker
of his hope. {9:11} If we have sown unto you spiritual
things, [is it] a great thing if we shall reap your carnal
things? {9:12} If others be partakers of [this] power over
you, [are] not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this
power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel
of Christ.

     1 Corinthians 9; 5-12

Yes, Paul had the right even to reap the carnal things. But he didn't. Continue reading the chapter

What is my reward then? [Verily] that, when I preach the
gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that
I abuse not my power in the gospel. {9:19} For though I be
free from all [men,] yet have I made myself servant unto all,
that I might gain the more.

I believe we ought to give money to those who are earnestly preaching the gospel. We should also be cheerful givers so that Jesus is preached. God will judge the swindlers and rewards us on judgment day seeing our true intentions. We should be happy givers. GIVE! think not of what you get rewarded here. I am talking about the treasure from above.

Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up when I come no collections will have to be made. 1 Corinthians 16; 1-4

But just as you excel in everything -in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and your love for us- see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8; 7

Note; grace of giving may not necessarily apply to money only here. It may mean your time. But we do have a saying. 'Time is money.' What do you have to give??

Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

a little difference here, Jesus backed up his claims.. did the others? No, they followed blindly. Jesus is proven.. Miracles they saw Him perform, the prophecies He fulfilled... the miracles He did were to numerous to enter in the Bible, the aposltes saw this, and heard His teachings, meshed that with the word of God, as well as it was revealed to them by God in heaven.

Did the "crazies" leading the cults have any of those? No, they worked people into a frenzy using drugs, or hypnosis, and those folks followed their feelings into death... hence, my statement, feelings are hardly a reason to accept anything

why would the apostles, who walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus every single minute of every single day for the bulk of 3 years, die for a lie?

That would make everyone at Jonestown, every member of Heaven's Gate and any other suicidal cult correct.

Amen brother! There is too much evidence (from archaeology to biology to astronomy) that back up the claims of the Bible. More than that, we have the very Words of Christ which speak to our conscience that we NEED a savior. Praise God for your faithfulness. Don't quit!
